Victoria and David Beckham made a smart move. When the pair moved overseas to the United States, it was a decision that shaped their future as a married couple and as individuals in their own careers. The marriage of the Beckhams is a partnership of mutual respect, strategic career moves and increasing each other’s celebrity status.

Both stars were reaching their personal prime in their home country, but a move to the United States meant new opportunities and fame. David was no longer the star soccer athlete in England, but in the United States he became one of the top players, and his fame gave him the instant popularity and acceptance that our culture so readily gives to sports celebrities.

Victoria Beckham, known as Posh Spice in the girl band The Spice Girls, also made a strategic career move when she came to the United States: she befriended the local celebrities. Almost overnight, Victoria has become the woman that guys want to date and girls want to be like. Victoria’s status as a celebrity skyrocketed in her move, beyond the popularity she carried as a Spice Girl. She has even begun to break through in show business, appearing in the television show Ugly Betty. Victoria’s reunited tour with the Spice Girls will be another opportunity for her celebrity status to grow.

The marriage of the Beckhams is not splashed in the tabloids like that of other Hollywood couples. The thing that makes Victoria and David unique is their mutual respect and admiration of each others’ careers. They are celebrities in different arenas, so they aren’t competing against each other for popularity. They are able to encourage each other in strategic career moves and support each other as their power as a celebrity couple continues to grow. This power couple will continue to thrive both professionally and personally in their marriage as long as they continue to support one another in their careers.

You have to wonder what goes on in the minds of celebrity parents when contemplating names for their children. Some of them must exist in a stratosphere all their own.

These are actual names on actual birth certificates. I don’t know if each is the result of a need for therapy, a deranged ego, or serious drug consumption. But all these names are real.

So, you are going to love this! Sit back and enjoy. I found the wackiest names you have ever heard. And I mean wacky! So wacky, in fact, I truly pity the poor kids who were/are sure to be picked on in school for these*:

I. P. Freely: David Carradine is saying to the world, “Pick on my kid, please”

Moon Unit (daughter) and Dweezil (son): Can Frank Zappa’s kids ever forgive him for these

MoxieCrimeFighter: Penn Jillette must have given birth to a superhero

Zowie: To David Bowie I can only ask, “Say what?!?”

Prince Michael: Does this mean that Michael Jackson wishes he were “King Michael?”

Doreme: Justin Hayward watched “The Sound of Music” a few too many times

Tabooger: Dan Cortese meant to use the name “Da Booger,” for his breakfast of choice. Oops!

Banjo: Is Rachel Grittiths’ kid the one from “Deliverence?”

Caspar: Did Claudia Shiffer adopt the friendly ghost?

Cash: Talk about Slash putting his money were his loin is!

Summer Song: Mia Farrow mixed up the name of her child with title of a song she wrote

Luna Coco Patricia: Did Frank Lampard and Elen Rive give birth to a Werewolf?

Audio Science: Shannyn Sossamon must really love technology

Hopper: Sean Penn and Robin Wright must have always wanted a rabbit

Blue Angel: U2’s The Edge and Aislinn O’Sullivan go to too many air shows

Bluebell Madonna: I’m not sure if Geri Halliwell loves Jesus or music or cows or bells

Brooklyn: David and Victoria Beckham must come from New York or used a map to name their kid

Camera: Arthur Ashe and Jeanne Moutoussamy must love photography

Fifi Trixibell: To Bob Geldof and Paula Yates I ask, “Say What?!?”

Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily: Paula Yates must love God, tigers, flowers and drugs!

Ireland: Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger also used a map to name their kid or are 100% Irish

Jaz: Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi must love jazz. What if the kid prefers country or rock?

Jermajesty: Jermaine Jackson thinks his kid will one day be knighted by the Queen of England

Lennon: Liam Gallagher and Patsy Kensit must be big Beatles’ fans

Liberty: Ryan Giggs must be a true fan of the Liberty Bell

Memphis Eve: Bono must take his kid to Memphis to celebrate New Years Eve with Elvis

Ocean: Forest Whitaker must love boating or fishing or just the ocean

Pilot Inspektor: Jason Lee must love pilots and detectives

Poppy Honey: Did Jamie and Jules Oliver give birth to a bumble bee?

Rocket: Robert Rodriguez must have always wanted to be an astronaut

Shiloh Nouvel: To Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie I again ask, “Say what?”

Suri: Were Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes really suri about this one?

Willow Camille Reign: Did Will Smith’s wife give birth to child a girl, flower, or a throne?

Zola Ivy: Eddie Murphy and Nicole Mitchell must be Boston Red Sox fans

* Warning! It is recommended that you do not use any of these names if you don’t want your kids to hate you for the rest of your life.

The Many (stylish) Faces of Victoria Beckham

After all the whirlwind media on the alleged affair of David, one would expect Victoria to be a bit off celter. You will be very wrong! She took it in her stride.

Victoria, The Survivor

Victoria Beckham is one of those celebrities that everybody both loves and hates. Vic established herself as the cool and calm girl in the now-defunct girl group Spice Girls. She added to the cool girl persona with her excellent taste in clothes. Even after the Spice Girls demise, Posh kept on shining in the limelight. Two things kept her there, she is married to David Beckham and she is extremely stylish.

Since the Spice Girls disbanded, Victoria Beckham dabbled with a rather unsuccessful solo singing career, a stint as a talk show host, and an attempt at writing a book. It does sometimes seem as if Victoria has no real talent to offer. She is a great mother to her three children and it seems a lovely wife. This changed when she designed a very cool limited jeans line for Rock Republic. We are well down the road from the launch date, but Harvy Nichols is still selling dVB’s like crazy.

Victoria, The Designer

The 5th of September this year not only ushered in the New York Fashion Week, but also the birth of a new Victoria Beckham as couture designer extraordinaire. In a private showing at the Waldorf Hotel in Park Avenue, Victoria Beckham unveiled her debut fashion collection under her own label, VB, to a select group of retailers and fashion editors.

The word of the day was ‘classy’, and that was exactly what Victoria Beckham’s pieces were! All 10 of her original designs showed the designer’s partiality to fitted dresses with raised waistlines and mid-calf lengths – the same styles that she’s been sporting lately to great effect.

Victoria Beckham’s use of fabrics like silk, organza, and wool was impressive, but it was her attention to detail that had spectators reeling with admiration. Not only do her designs look tasteful, she’s also taken measures to avoid vulgar wardrobe malfunctions with such subtle details like inner grosgrain waistbands and folded tucks along the bustline, to name a few. Indeed, Victoria Beckham knows all about the subtle nuances of wearing a dress – like what makes it photograph well, or how to make a corset bearable for hours on end – and she’s sharing her expertise to all and sundry, a gesture that’s not lost to fans and critics alike.

Victoria, The Fashion Icon

It goes without saying that the first VB collection was very well received, and has already been taken on by Harvey Nichols, while negotiations are underway between the designer and other retailers. Posh is also currently designing a handbag line for Samantha Tharasa.

Good press, bad press – who cares? Definitely not Victoria Beckham. The collection was very well received. If this is an indication of things to come, VB is set on the road of designer!
