Celebrity encounters: How to keep composure when and if you spot your favorite star

There’s only one simple thing that sets apart someone of celebrity status from that of being the average person. Those with celebrity status tend to have multi-million dollar careers doing something that so many of the average beings dream of getting paid for. Whether you know them for their talents or more so for their appearance, their faces, careers and more especially so, their personal lives are usually plastered everywhere around the world for all to view and adore or in other cases, criticize. However, what are you supposed to do if you run into a celebrity? Especially if it’s a celebrity that you generally admire? How are you expected to compose yourself without seeming too uninterested? Yet not so interested in their celebrity status to send them running for the Hollywood Hills without taking a single look back into your general direction?

One thing that I can admittedly say is that I, myself have been lucky enough to encounter multiple celebrities during the span of my twenty five years of existence, mostly from bands. I can honestly say that I have yet had a truly horrible experience with any of the ones that I have met nor have I scarred them for life by acting like a complete lunatic.

First thing to remember and most importantly. Celebrities may be wealthy, they may be posted and plastered everywhere amongst us average people but they are actual people just as you and I are. They don’t appreciate someone yelling in their face that they’re them when they know who they are. They don’t appreciate being followed into the restroom or the tanning bed just to be asked for an autograph.

To approach a celebrity, observe the surroundings. Is it over-crowded? Is the celebrity being mobbed by other fans? Is it a private setting or a social setting? Is the celebrity alone or with someone else?

If they appear to be generally happy looking and everything appears to be okay and calm, be enthusiastic and remember that it’s okay to be screaming on the inside of yourself instead of the outside and right in front of their face. Keep your calm outwardly and don’t be afraid to say hello and introduce yourself to them in a polite, normal manner.

Explain to them that you’re a fan of their work and was wondering if they’d be willing to take a moment to talk with you or sign an autograph, take a photograph with you or whichever you prefer and are seeking from them. The worst that they can say is no and if they do, just thank them anyhow and walk away. Don’t look too bummed if they decline as even celebrities have bad days at times, perhaps you just mis-observed and find them at a better time and try again.

However, if they seem interested in spending a few moments of their time with you, be yourself. Don’t try to act like someone you’re not. Just talk to them naturally as you would talk to a regular friend.

Don’t hog their time though. After you receive what you seek from them. Thank them for their time and be on your way. You don’t want to seem to overly eager nor do you want to make the celebrity feel obligated to spend time with you because you’re a fan of theirs.

With those simple suggestions out in the open, the celebrity will appreciate you being real with them as opposed to making yourself look like some sort of annoying fan-girl or fan-boy that makes them cringe at the sight of your arrival.

Celebrities and the law: Why it seems like Hollywood law

Why do we place celebrities on a pedestal? We envy their money, fame, and lifestyle; yet most of them don’t seem very happy. The current celebrity bad girl is Lindsay Lohan. What a mixed up kid! She has no clue what “real” life is. No wonder she thinks she can get away with her behavior! Apparently law enforcement feels the same way. The latest string of celebrity law breakers has received a slap on the hand and little else. Any normal kid might get off easier on a first offense, but celebrities just get more publicity and less punishment. They should get real jail time to help reality sink in. This is a dangerous trend and a poor example to the youth who idolize them. Celebrities are not above the law, and they should be like treated like the rest of us, especially when it comes to the law.

Impact of Celebrity Magazines on Hollywood

There has always been attention given to the activities of various celebrities. In recent years, celebrity news has become more popular. This trend has paved the way for more celebrity magazines to emerge in order to satisfy the public’s appetite for celebrity gossip. However, although celebrity magazines have had an impact on the magazine world, the magazines have also had an impact on Hollywood as well.

With the dramatic increase in attention the celebrity magazines provide, there has been both positive and negative effects in Hollywood. For instance, in a positive development, there has been a giant push for celebrities to promote charities and other organizations that strive to benefit humankind and the world at large. This promotion is done often through the celebrity magazines. When one of these stories is picked up by the gossip magazines, millions of people are made aware of these causes and can contribute to these benevolent organizations. Putting pressure on major organizations to enact change is something positive that celebrity magazines have done. Also, due to the fact that celebrities have recognizable names and therefore powerful voices, what celebrities say and the organizations that they support receive an increase in attention through celebrity magazines and other venues.

It is important to remember, however, that celebrity magazines are for entertainment. In many cases, no matter what magazines say about celebrities, the individuals that they are covering are sometimes people who do not want the hype. Obviously, these artists and power-brokers are in the public eye, but, in the end, many are just hardworking individuals who are doing what they love to do, and are not looking for extra attention. Nowadays, with so many celebrity magazines on the market, more reporters and photographers than ever before are fighting for stories and photos. This can be distracting to those that simply want to work in Hollywood or elsewhere, and in the worst cases, can affect the quality of their work. .

Consequently, the more celebrity magazines that are available to the public means more pages that are needed to be filled with celebrity gossip. The various magazines require stories and pictures to satisfy their readership. What this leads to, ultimately, is that each magazine must develop an angle to attract the reader, and sometimes these angles might not be accurate, or even an obvious lie. Some couples claim that the constant pressure from the celebrity magazines is what ultimately led to their breakups, and some claim that by doing these things out in public where everyone can see them, the couples themselves have allowed the magazines to have an impact on what they are doing and where they are going as a couple. This can be very entertaining for readers, but perhaps damaging to the stars’ career. Managing these situations from a public relations point of view is crucial to the stars maintaining a positive image.

There are stars, however, which use this spotlight to increase their status. The old adage, “there’s no such thing as bad press” is taken advantage of on a weekly basis. Publicity stunts are more common, as is outrageous behavior. Due to the broad spotlight that celebrity magazines cast, it has become difficult to determine whether or not a star’s behavior is genuine, or fabricated to get attention. Perhaps an artist wants attention that their roles or their records are not getting them; they can do something outrageous and get the coverage. Also, celebrities use the magazines to plug and promote the projects they are working on. A downside of this trend is that celebrity magazines pay handily for insider information, and some projects are leaked ahead of schedule. Many stars, actors in particular, feel that their believability in an on-screen role is compromised by the celebrity magazine’s focus on their personal lives. Clearly, the increase in popularity of celebrity magazines has become a force to be reckoned with in the Hollywood community.

Like many things, the impact on Hollywood from celebrity magazines has been both bad and good. For instance, there has been an upward trend in the amount of coverage that has been given to things that celebrities endorse and other organizations that celebrities feel are positive organizations. This coverage can only help those causes. Also, the magazines that talk about celebrities have a tendency to report on everything – and something that they are very good at doing is showing the nation at large that celebrities are just regular people. Because they are always going to be under scrutiny from the magazines, some celebrities try harder to project a positive image. The attention provided by celebrity magazines has engineered a general push in Hollywood for celebrities to stand as examples to the rest of the world. This has helped to provide more role models, as well. All of these things are a result of the celebrity magazines, and their current upward shift in popularity.

If you watch any amount of television, no doubt you are aware of the Reality TV craze in America. Reality TV has become amazingly popular throughout the country, with millions tuning in to their favorite reality show. With new shows being added to the reality list each year, this is a television phenomenon that is here to stay. While you may not have realized it, Reality TV has been around some time and has developed into the amazing craze that we know of today.

The History

Reality TV has now been around almost fifteen years, starting back in 1992 with the show, “The Real World”, which was done on MTV. This was the very beginning of reality TV and it has progressed since then to become what we know of today. “The Real World” was basically a show that had several people from a variety of different backgrounds live together, and their interactions among one another were filmed for people to watch on television. In 2002, Reality TV was brought to new levels with the hit show “Survivor”, which was aired by CBS. Since the success of “Survivor”, other networks have begun airing reality shows, until now primetime television is actually dominated by shows of this kind.

Why People Love It

There are many reasons that people have fallen in love with Reality TV, and one of those reasons is the money. Where else on TV do regular people find the opportunities to win great sums of money. Shows that offer large sums of money are instant attention grabbers, since people love to watch other normal people win large amounts of money, and by the same token, many times they get to watch them lose large sums of money as well.

Another reason that Reality TV has become such a big hit is because of the promise of instant fame. Many people dream of what it would be like to be on television and to be famous, and most people do not get that opportunity in their lives. Reality TV allows normal people to live out their dream of fame, without having to make it big in Hollywood. Lastly, people also enjoy this type of television so much because they have the pleasure of watching people fail and succeed. Many people get a thrill out of watching others fail, and others love to see their favorite contestant win, so it becomes the type of show that they never want to miss.

Popular Reality TV Shows

While there are a variety of Reality TV shows that are available for you to watch, there are some that are far more popular than others. The following are brief overviews of some of the most popular Reality TV shows ever.

American Idol

One of the most popular Reality TV shows to ever be aired is American Idol. This is a show that goes around the country auditioning people who want to be singers. While the beginning can be quite comical as you listen to people with no musical talent try out, as the show progresses and the final contestants are announced, it becomes a more intense show that leaves viewers on the edge of their seats. The finalists perform for audiences and the judges comment on their performances, but the viewers get involved by voting for their favorite singer each night. The person with the lowest votes is then voted off of the show. The number one singer on American Idol receives a recording contract and usually goes on to have a very successful music career.

So You Think You Can Dance

Another one of the top Reality TV shows is the show, So You Think You Can Dance. This is a show that is much like American Idol; however, this show is centered around dancing. While it starts almost the same way, with auditions around the United States, the finalists in this show are challenged in a variety of ways. Contestants have to pick partners and learn to dance new styles of dance, even if they are not familiar with them, and then they perform to try to win over the votes of the viewers. While initially the outcome was determined by the judges votes, recently they decided to start allowing the viewers to vote for their favorite dancer, which made this show even more popular than ever before.

These are just a couple of the most popular Reality TV shows, but there are many more that you may be interested in. Other great shows to consider are: Biggest Loser, Top Model, Survivor, Dancing with the Stars, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and Fear Factor.
