Celebrity gossip: Has the media gone too far? – Part 6

Celebrity gossip- if I could make it through a week without seeing those two words presented together. To my mind, there IS too much attention focused on these “celebrities.” I really don’t know what bothers me more- how the tabloids and media vomit them all over our papers and televisions, or how so many “sheep” can’t seem to function without their daily “grazing” on this so-called news. For those who are lacking excitement in their own lives, the media gives us all a steady stream of celebrity “news.” Why focus on what someone else is doing? Make your own life better! Create some excitement in your OWN life! These “celebrities” are humans! They’re exactly like everyone else on the planet! Granted, they have admirers and fans (no doubt it took a lot of hard work and/or expensive surgery to attain their positions). But, in the end, they’re people too. For some reason, this seems like high school (only on a nightmare scale) all over again. There are popular kids (not sure why, but there always are), and then there’s everyone else- only, as adults, everyone else is everyone who is NOT in the public eye. I’m guessing its part of human nature- we seek excitement and news outside of our daily lives and routines. In that line of thought, I’d place the blame 50/50 between those who publish the “news” and those who buy it. For your own sake, take the time you’d spend reading about someone else’s life and make your own life a little better, do something that someone else would find “newsworthy.”
