Is it right for celebrities to sell pictures of their babies? – Part 2
November 30, 2009 by gossip dog

No one offered to buy the photos of my newborn baby, I’m not famous enough yet. What would have been my reaction is someone made an offer ? A lound an clear “yes”, for three reasons: control, low risk, and money.
For each photographer ready to pay for such photos, ten others are ready to take the unofficial version, and using every possible way to reach their goal is no problem for them. Selling photos give the parents a total control, as they can decide which pictures will go public, and which will remain within their private album.
I would definitely prefer to publish photos of the family in a quiet, relaxed environment, than see stolen pictures of us, possibly in a sub-optimal situation. All parents have less than glorious moments with their kids, and pictures of that can seriously hurt someone’s public image. Selling official pictures will not void the appeal that stolen pictures anyway have, but it will help to reduce it, as there will be no opportunity for papers like “The very first and scandalous unofficial photo of “.
While image control is important, particularly for famous people, babies are some kind of an exception. I’m not saying that babies have no identity, but they change quickly, and are not so easy to recognize. Do you think you would recognize the famous Pitt-Jolie twins if you saw them without their parents being around ? If I show you a picture of my daughter when she was 1 day, one week, and one month old, you would probably not be sure it’s the same baby.
Selling pictures of older kids, or teenagers raises other questions, but babies case is simpler. I honestly can’t see how publishing a baby’s picture could endanger him or her. Being a celebrity’s kid is a risk by itself, some photos won’t change that.
Last but not least on the list of good reasons to say yes: the money. One could argue that celebrities don’t need the extra money that selling baby pictures will generate. But the market is present, so why not pocket the money ? Do you think that the magazines would sell copies at a lower price if the photos are for free ? More and more celebrities also support charities, and money earned with such media-oriented actions is frequently given to their favourite organization.
Does that means that celebrities going this way are somehow selling their babies ? Somehow yes, but being celebrities they already sold themselves, and hiding a baby would result in more media pressure to get pictures of him or her, and this is not a good way. Michael Jackson brilliantly demonstrated that
Being a public person has some advantages and drawbacks for oneself but also for one’s relatives, and I don’t see any reason not to profit from it, particularly if nobody is harmed in the process.
Desperate Housewives Actress Says ‘i Do’ Twice

After months of media coverage and publicity, the much talked about union of NBA star, Tony Parker and Desperate Housewives actress, Eva Longoria, finally took place twice in beautiful Paris. The 6’2†Parker wed the diminutive Longoria in a civil ceremony last Friday, before their church wedding the following day.
Their civil wedding was held in accordance with French laws and was officiated by Paris Mayor Betrand Delanoe. The ceremony was witnessed by less than 30 family and friends at the city hall.
In stark contrast, over 200 guests were in attendance the following day, when the celebrity couple exchanged vows and ‘I Dos’ at the Eglise Saint-Germain l’Auxerrois Church across the famed Louvre Museum.
Among the guests were superstar crooner, Sheyl Crow, Fantastic Four star, Jessica Alba, American Idol’s Ryan Seacrest and Parker’s San Antonio Spurs coach, Greg Popovich. As expected, Eva Longoria’s Desperate Housewives cast mates were also there to watch their fellow ‘housewife’ walk down the aisle. Teri Hatcher came with her nine-year old daughter, Felicity Huffman arrived with actor hubby, William H. Macy and Nicolette Sheridan attended alone while Marcia Cross was understandably absent in light of the recent birth of her twins.
After the Roman Catholic nuptials, guests traveled 40 miles to the Vaux-le-Vicomte castle in Maincy for the reception. The 17th century chateau, located 35 miles southeast of Paris, provided a stunning venue with its marble-floored ballroom, chandelier-studded dining room and 70 acres of precisely pruned and meticulously manicured gardens, all basking in the glow of 4,000 candles. The lavish celebration cost more than half a million and was complete with music, dancing and fireworks well into midnight.
The marriage is Eva Longoria’s second, after her two-year union with General Hospital actor, Tyler Christopher, ended in divorce in 2004. She will soon rejoin the rest of the Desperate Housewives ensemble when they begin filming the fourth season due to begin in September.

Evaluating reality TV – Part 2

It is just me or do people get too into reality television shows and why are they called reality shows when they couldn’t possibly be any more unrealistic? Excuse me? There is no possible way that any of these ridiculous shows could have anything to do with reality. They are imbecilic, and yet they occupy every corner of prime time television, and they attract massive audiences. Why?
This activity stands out for its prominence and ubiquity. The term “TV addiction” is imprecise and laden with value judgments, but it captures the essence of a very real phenomenon. Psychologists and psychiatrists formally define substance dependence as a disorder characterised by criteria that include spending a great deal of time using the substance; using it more often than one intends; thinking about reducing use or making repeated unsuccessful efforts to reduce use; giving up important social, family or occupational activities to use it; and reporting withdrawal symptoms when one stops using it. All these criteria can apply to people who watch a lot of television. That does not mean that watching television, per say, is problematic. Television can teach and amuse; it can reach aesthetic heights; it can provide much needed distraction and escape. The difficulty arises when people strongly sense that they ought not to watch as much as they do and yet find themselves strangely unable to reduce their viewing. But come on people, have some pride with your choice of television. People get addicted to TV for any number of reasons being informed, sports, music, amusement, celebrity fantasies, etc., but then they move onto the ‘hard stuff’ – Reality TV.
If you are like millions of television viewers across this country, you’re probably hooked on at least one reality TV series. For some, it may be shows like “Survivor” where you watch players fight to the finish, eating bugs and living in the elements. For others, it may be shows like “The Apprentice,” where you watch those in the business world fight to the finish. What is it about Big Brother that people can’t look away? What’s the reason for so many bug-eating contests? And why hasn’t anyone on Survivor figured out that they will need to know how to make a fire when they get there? Don’t Reality TV participants watch Reality TV shows?
Asking around for people’s opinion of this is also intriguing. A majority of people agreed with me; they thought reality TV shows were pointless and had nothing to do with regular life.

Assessing celebrity marriages: Victoria and David Beckham – Part 2
November 30, 2009 by gossip dog
Within the celebrity marriage of Victoria and David Beckham, there are a few ground rules. First and foremost, Victoria will not allow for a female personal assistant to her husband, David. She also states that paparazzi photographs must be staged together. Sweetly, she also requests that whenever David is away from the family, he call before their three children go to bed each night.
Ground rules may be the way to civilly live in a celebrity marriage. As communication is key for all marriages – even those out of the spotlight – celebrity marriages face the added stress of tabloids and public opinion. Having these “guidelines,” as Victoria calls them, ensures for a trustworthy and reliable spouse.
Victoria believes that having a female assistant can create doubt in the eyes of the public that her husband is faithful to her. Especially when a personal assistant to a celebrity is considered part of the family due to the amount of time they spend with the celebrity. By eliminating this problem Victoria is also eliminating a whole world of rumors that can be associated with it.
The second ground rule may seem somewhat concerning. However, at events, Victoria and David have agreed to take pictures together instead of separately. This allows for photographs that show the couple takes the time to attend events together. Couples who are notably doing things such as going out to dinner, special events or other dates, are much stronger in the celebrity world than those who are alone. The tabloid target is inevitably the solo spouse.
It also is helpful when children are involved to see their family and living environment as a stable one. Knowing that their father will continuously call each night regardless of where he may be globally allows for a comfort zone within the family boundaries. It also leaves Victoria feeling less like a single parent on the days when David is absent.
But would ground rules really work in a, dare I say, “normal relationship?” Imagine the wife of a high-powered executive saying that he can no longer have a female secretary in his workplace. Also, all photos must be taken together at events and he may not pose with anyone else. Would this really work?
But that, my friends, is what make celebrity marriages a little piece of a fantasy. Constantly being in the public eye calls for an illusion act that David Beckham is the perfect husband, when in fact, Victoria Beckham is the perfect conductor of the marriage.
Where to get juicy gossip on your favorite celebrities – Part 4

I just love my celebrity gossip fix! I read it any chance I have. I love reading and watching the regular news also, but celebs are always so wacky and entertaining. My homepage on my Internet Explorer browser is set to msn.com. I like opening up to that page because they have a little of everything. If you scroll to the bottom of the page on the left side there is a section of entertainment news that is great. I also use AOL a lot and if you have your welcome screen set for the news and entertainment section it can be great. They also have lots of different trivia games etc…that you can engage in. There is always entertainmentweekly.com and people.com.
My personal favorite website for entertainment gossip though is without a doubt www.perezhilton.com! This website is one of the best out there. They have a ton of great pictures and you can leave your comments. It is great! By far the best that there is to offer for now.
The trouble with Paris Hilton, Larry King and reality television
November 30, 2009 by gossip dog

Did you see Paris Hilton come walking out of jail like she was prancing down a runway at a fashion show? If so what you saw was the French Revolution in reverse. You saw Paris/Marie Antoinette walk out of the Bastille unharmed. You saw the beautiful Germanic/Austrian blonde smiling from ear to ear as she ran to her mother to give her a hug in front of a hundred paparazzi.
Toulouse-Lautrec, the aristocratic French painter of short stature (from his relatives inbreeding) who became famous from painting can-can dancers and prostitutes in Montmartre on the outskirts of Paris in the 1880s, teaches us much about social decadence. Much of his work focused on France’s Third Republic and its legalization of prostitution. He was careful to juxtapose the conservative Roman Catholics who tolerated and policed the brothels with the poor women who worked in them.
How could such social decadence been legislated in a city that had just built the Sacre Coeur Catholic Church? It is very simple. The elite Catholics married other elite Catholics. The women had to be virgins for reasons of family honor, pride, virtue, etc. However, no French male could resist the pleasure of the flesh until marriage. Enter the legalization of Prostitution. Who benefits? The elites of Paris. Montmartre becomes a destination for all the decadent of Europe. Who loses? All of the poor women who contracted syphilis.
Paris Hilton is not French. She is however very similar to Marie Antoinette. Instead of suggesting that peasants eat cake, she sells them overpriced ingredients and ensures that they can never actually make a cake with what she gives them. The people starve. The Revolution ensues. Enter the guillotine. Enter Napoleon. Enter Toulouse-Lautrec. Enter Montmartre, Las Vegas, Hollywood, New York City, and all of the other historic homes of social decadence. “Values” as defined in Washington D.C. are in reality a high-class whore that spreads its legs to the highest bidder.
Marie Antoinette never said “Let them eat cake” but the perception that she was indifferent to ordinary people became reality. Why were the ordinary people suffering so much? The French government was bankrupt, the price of bread had sky-rocketed, and the elites had filled the peasants with abstract notions of “liberty” in the same vain as Voltaire, Locke, Jefferson, and Franklin. The French peasant had been paying for the debts of abstract madness since at least 1789 most likely back to the “enlightened despotism”
Celebrity encounters: How to keep composure when and if you spot your favorite star

There’s only one simple thing that sets apart someone of celebrity status from that of being the average person. Those with celebrity status tend to have multi-million dollar careers doing something that so many of the average beings dream of getting paid for. Whether you know them for their talents or more so for their appearance, their faces, careers and more especially so, their personal lives are usually plastered everywhere around the world for all to view and adore or in other cases, criticize. However, what are you supposed to do if you run into a celebrity? Especially if it’s a celebrity that you generally admire? How are you expected to compose yourself without seeming too uninterested? Yet not so interested in their celebrity status to send them running for the Hollywood Hills without taking a single look back into your general direction?
One thing that I can admittedly say is that I, myself have been lucky enough to encounter multiple celebrities during the span of my twenty five years of existence, mostly from bands. I can honestly say that I have yet had a truly horrible experience with any of the ones that I have met nor have I scarred them for life by acting like a complete lunatic.
First thing to remember and most importantly. Celebrities may be wealthy, they may be posted and plastered everywhere amongst us average people but they are actual people just as you and I are. They don’t appreciate someone yelling in their face that they’re them when they know who they are. They don’t appreciate being followed into the restroom or the tanning bed just to be asked for an autograph.
To approach a celebrity, observe the surroundings. Is it over-crowded? Is the celebrity being mobbed by other fans? Is it a private setting or a social setting? Is the celebrity alone or with someone else?
If they appear to be generally happy looking and everything appears to be okay and calm, be enthusiastic and remember that it’s okay to be screaming on the inside of yourself instead of the outside and right in front of their face. Keep your calm outwardly and don’t be afraid to say hello and introduce yourself to them in a polite, normal manner.
Explain to them that you’re a fan of their work and was wondering if they’d be willing to take a moment to talk with you or sign an autograph, take a photograph with you or whichever you prefer and are seeking from them. The worst that they can say is no and if they do, just thank them anyhow and walk away. Don’t look too bummed if they decline as even celebrities have bad days at times, perhaps you just mis-observed and find them at a better time and try again.
However, if they seem interested in spending a few moments of their time with you, be yourself. Don’t try to act like someone you’re not. Just talk to them naturally as you would talk to a regular friend.
Don’t hog their time though. After you receive what you seek from them. Thank them for their time and be on your way. You don’t want to seem to overly eager nor do you want to make the celebrity feel obligated to spend time with you because you’re a fan of theirs.
With those simple suggestions out in the open, the celebrity will appreciate you being real with them as opposed to making yourself look like some sort of annoying fan-girl or fan-boy that makes them cringe at the sight of your arrival.
TV show reviews: Lost – Part 1

The extravangza that is ‘Lost’, the most popular wide spread watched telivision show ever created. The drama within the show takes the audience through a rip of emotion as they get involved with the characters theyve spent hours observing. Theres no other way to describe lost other than a phanomanom. To kickstart the new season of lost ive based the article on a brief recap of season 3, an analysis of the hit season four episode ‘The beginning of the end’, my, thoughts and some secrets you may not no or have picked up on.
ABC’s hit drama is back again for another season, how many episode’s will be aired at the moment is a mystery. Eight episodes will be shown through out the year until filming resumes whenever the writers strike ends, which i fully respect because writers deserve more recognition and pay than they currently lack. Anyway Season four is set to be extrodanery after the opening episode of ‘The Beginning Of The End’, it was a great dramatic way to steed into action again after the last three Seasons.
A very Brief recap of Season 3
The story continues 67 days after the initial Oceanis flight 815 crash. New crash survivors and ‘The Others’ led by ‘Ben’ are introduced. As the crash survivors learn about the Others and their history on the mysterious island a war is set to bur between both sides, ‘The Others’ hold many answers to the island, their mysterious and brute force ways obviously cause tension between themselves and the crash survivors, its the main conflict of the show. A war between the Others and the survivors comes to a head, after much deliberation and soul searching within themselves (Hurley) the survivors finale make contact with the outside world through women said to be on a boat named the freighter, a search party from Penelope (Desmond’s lover) looking for the survivors. Although we gain an insight and information into how the survivors may be saved we are still unsure about why ‘Ben’ sais ‘it’s the beginning of the end’, and who Penelope really is because charlie’s last message before he dies is that the boat supposedly a rescue boat isn’t Penelope’s. Who are they?
A secret in Season 2.
If you can remember back to season 2 when Penelope was searching for Desmond, we got a clip of the icecaps and two men playing chess in a bunker when they found the co-ordinates for the lost island. If you have watched the season 3 finale then you will know that Penelope is picked up on an incoming transmission in “the looking glass”

Celebrity tell-alls: Privacy absent in Hollywood
Every child dreams of the day they can become famous. They think of the popularity, the fame, and the fortune. They want to see their face on every magazine, their name to be known, and talked about on the radio and television shows. Every kid fantasizes of becoming a rock star, a sports professional, or an actor or actress. They want everyone to know their name. If you are a celebrity, you can drive the best cars, live in the biggest houses, wear the best clothes, and have everything that they could possibly want. They can travel all over the world and they are loved by so many fans. Then the child grows up and realizes that maybe having your face on every magazine is not such a good thing.
If you have a role in a movie, a soap opera, a reality show, a music video, sing a song on a radio, play a professional sport, or are even seen speaking or standing closely to someone famous, you can probably find your face on the tabloids somewhere. The paparazzi hunts the celebrities down like dogs to try to take the first photograph of every aspect of the person’s lives. They do not care that the celebrity does not have a private life. They do not care that they are invading their privacy, harassing them, scaring them, and making them not want to leave their homes. We are living in a world that is obsessed with the rich and the famous. You can read about the celebrities on the internet, read an article in magazines, they are found on the news, talked about on the radio, and are all over shows such as TMZ or on the E! channel. Do you ever get used to it if you are a celebrity? Do you ever accept it?
The celebrities are supposed to be normal people, just like you and me. Acting, singing, or playing sports is their job. I have never had anyone chase me and my family around with a camera while I am leaving work. Every aspect of my life is not found on the internet. I do not have to always wear the most perfect outfit with perfectly fixed hair and tons of make-up just to save myself from the embarrassment of having less than flattering photographs of me all over the tabloids. I have never had to deny the name of the person who I am seeing. So how is it that the famous are normal people?
After the magazine or television show obtains the photographs from the paparazzi, the stories begin being reported everywhere. It does not matter to them what the truth really is, they let the photographs
