A new live-action, high octane family adventure will soon grace the screen, courtesy of writer/ directors Larry and Andy Wachowski, the creators of the highly acclaimed “The Matrix” trilogy and producer Joel Silver comes the “Speed Racer”.

Speed Racer is a story about a young driver (Emil Hirsch) who is aggressive, instinctive, and above all fearless. His only real competition is the real competition is the memory of the legendary Rex Racer who happens to be the brother he idolized. The death of his brother in a race has left a desire on Emile Hirsch or Speed Racer to continue the legacy that his brother has left.

Speed as what he is lovingly called by his friends and family is true example of a son who loves his family. He has shown his dedication and loyalty to the family racing business which is headed by his father, Pops Racer (John Goodman) who is also the designer of Speed’s thundering Mach 5 which by the way could use some Merkur oxygen sensor. The story began when Speed turns down the lucrative and enticing offer from the Royalton Industries which has infuriated the company’s maniacal owner (Roger Allam).

Speed was also able to uncover a terrible secret—some of the biggest races are being fixed by a handful of unscrupulous tycoons who manipulate the top drivers to increase their profits. And since Speed has not agreed to drive for Royalton then it will see to it that the Mach 5 would never cross another finish line.

For those who are familiar with the Speed Racer cartoon series you of course know what happens next. Speed to save his family’s business and the sport that he loves, he has to beat Royalton at his own game. And together with his supportive family and ever loyal girlfriend Trixie (Christina Ricci), Speed teams up with his one-time rival, the mysterious Racer X (Matthew Fox) to win the race that was responsible for the death of his brother—none other than the cross-country rally known as The Crucible.

The Speed Racer is scheduled to hit theaters on May 9, 2008. This movie will also mark the Wachowski brothers’ first writing/directing collaboration since the “The Matrix” movies. Producer Joel Silver who has previously worked with the Wachowski brothers on huge projects like “The Matric” movies and “V for Vedetta” will once again take on the challenge of producing the film Speed Racer under his Silver Pictures banner.

The stars on the film are the following:

Big Brother refers to the George Orwell book titled 1984, in which government knows everything about you and what you happen to be up to. The concept made its leap to the television airwaves when a Dutch producer came up with the idea of putting a group of people into a house devoid of any outside social influences. The house, however, is not devoid of influences.

Cameras are everywhere and the Big Brother’s producers are always at the ready to jump on their hp printer and inject a little controversy to make their “rats” jump. The formula appears to work for television, as the concept is now used in many countries, with slightly differing twists according to those countries social norms.

Slanting slightly toward the American version it is interesting to see how the social outcomes of introduced tasks and contrived stimulus give us a winner (winners are determined by people casting votes; either from players in the house/jury or by call in or text votes from outside the house.) In the American Big Brother house the race is down to two people; a real jerk of a bar manager and his estranged daughter (not a saint), a situation that producers have got to love.

Hollywood always says that there has to be a happy ending to make a movie successful. Well, in this movie of a TV show there doesn’t seem to be a happy ending in the mix. Daniele, the estranged daughter, does appear to be a nice enough person. The problem is, however, to get to this place in the game the weak deer are nowhere to be found She’s a snaky B****. Having a decent person win the game is just counter intuitive to American culture. American society is based on natural selection in its voting practices, but to have a father destroy his daughter? Now that’s good American television (sarcasm).

Since there is a review show coming up and then the finale maybe the producers have a chance to capitalize on this particular situation. Yup, that’s right, let’s fire up that old hp printer one last time and inject a competition that will get America really interested. This past week they had a water torture competition that lasted over seven hours. The question is, how can the producers top water torture for the finale? With big brother in charge it needs to be something big. It needs to be something bigger then water torture (sarcasm.) Now that would be good American television and Orwell would be proud.

Despite being the best looking girl in Big Brother 6, sexy Sam Heuston was voted out third, lasting a total of 22 days and despite describing herself as “the horniest girl you’ve ever met”, bisexual-by-numbers Sam was quite dull in the house and couldn’t even tempt eventual winner Anthony Hutton into some action.

Housemate Sam was a marketing student from Cheam, Surrey and 23-years-old when she entered the Big Brother house. She missed her final exam to participate on the TV show but gained a 2:2 degree anyway.

Sam dreamt of being famous and saw Big Brother as a stepping stone to bigger things. She had a boob job but never told her family and once stripped naked on a podium on holiday in Tenerife in exchange for tickets to an event. Her idol is Christina Aguilera and although she loves both men and women, she relieves herself of boredom by thinking and talking about men.

Before going into Big Brother, Sam believed the housemates would be annoyed at her prettiness. An issue that Sam raised in her continuous slanging match with “Lesleh”.

She may have been pretty but also described herself as “original, funny and fun”. However, there wasn’t much evidence of that during her brief stint in the house.

By the second week of the show, Zoo magazine announced they would offer Sam a job as a sex columnist when she left the house – a role previously occupied by tabloid regular Jodie Marsh.

She lasted just another week when she was put up for eviction alongside Derek and Roberto, receiving 59% of the public and duly being evicted from the Big Brother house.

Sam had escaped being evicted at the second eviction on Friday 10 June (Day 15) when up against all her fellow housemates Anthony, Craig, Derek, Kemal, Lesley, Maxwell, Makosi, Roberto, Saskia, Science and Vanessa. If Big Brother had decided use the normal nomination procedure to choose possible evictees, Sam would have been up against Derek.

This is Sam’s nomination history during her stint in the house:

1st (Day 5) – Sam was nominated by Derek, Kemal, Lesley and Vanessa.

2nd (Day 11) – Sam was nominated by Craig, Derek, Lesley, Makosi, Roberto and Vanessa.

3rd (Day 18) – Sam was nominated by Anthony, Maxwell and Vanessa and was evicted by the public vote.

Since being evicted, Sam has beaten her obligatory battle against depression, had a short fling with Blue lothario Duncan James and dyed her hair blonde.

She has been an almost permanent fixture in the lads mags, been offered TV presenter roles and a sex columnist. She also appeared on an episode of the Italian version of Big Brother as an audience member.

With Big Brother 7 now well underway, Sam will have to come up with a new angle is she is to remain in the spotlight. A second appearance in reality TV, say Celebrity Love Island perhaps?

Celebrity Magazines such as Star Magazine and the National Enquirer make it their business to report on the love lives of celebrities. Up to the minute news and information on new relationships and couples who have called it quits. While celebrities are definitely different from us, it is definitely proven in the way they choose to end their relationships. Though sometime funny, celebrities can sometime choose the tackiest ways to end their relationships.

Breakups via television

Laura Dern and Billy Bob Thorton had dates for a few years and in fact were engaged. Unfortunately, for Dern, Thorton became smitten with Angelina Jolie on the set of their film Pushing Tin. The two married shortly thereafter but failed to inform Dern. She found out with the rest of the world as we watched in horror on one of our favorite celebrity gossip shows.

At the time, Laura Dern and Billy Bob were sharing a house. To make matters worse when Dern wanted to retrieve her things they were already boxed and put in storage, unceremoniously removed from the house the way Thorton removed her from his life.

Express Mail Break Ups

Sylvester Stallone dated model Jennifer Flavin but decided the relationship was not working for him. Unsure of how to break up with Jennifer, Sly decided to write a long heart felt letter to his girlfriend. Maybe because he was nervous about what her reaction would be Mr. Stallone decided it was best for him to be far away from Jennifer when she read the letter. The letter was delivered via express mail, and Jennifer found out the relationship was caput from the Federal Express Man.

Technology Driven Break Ups

We live in the information age, and it stands to reason that the demise of a relationship may take a futuristic turn. The world waited with baited breath for Britney Spears to end her marriage to Kevin Federline. Perhaps it is just a case of an individual getting their just desserts. The relationship between Britney Spears and Federline began when his girlfriend Shar Jackson was in her third trimester of pregnancy with his son. Perhaps Shar did not see it coming, but it is almost certain that Federline did not see it coming when Spears informed him that she wished to void their union via text message.

Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson were the darlings of MTV and famous for their television show Newlyweds. Unfortunately for Nick and Jessica their marriage could not withstand the strain or attention from the media. Rumors of a troubled relationship persisted for sometime before the couple called it quits Thanksgiving 2005. Rumor has it Jessica told Nick emailed the news to Nick.

Ending a relationship is usually never easy, whether you are famous or just a regular Joe. However, a break up should be done as painlessly as possible. Hopefully the next time Jess, Britney, or Billy Bob decide to break up with someone, the pages of Star Magazine or The National Enquirer will report that they at least did it in person.
